Man Convicted Of Stealing Records At Los Angeles Hospital

Filed under: Uncategorized — biopathics @ 8:56 pm

In medical criminal related news, a man identified as James Allen Wilson has been convicted of stealing patient records while working at Cedars Sinai Medical Center to four years and eight months in prison. He was convicted after pleading guilty of stealing patient information in order to defraud insurance companies for $354,000. There is simply no defense for that kind of behaviour. I hope for his sake he has a good attorney.
In an insurance scam Wilson used information from twelve patients that were Los Angeles Unified School District employees that had filed compensation claims. In the scam, he billed insurance companies for treatment that was never provided to the twelve patients for over $1.3 million dollars.
According to Deputy District Attorney Wendy Derzaph of the Heathcare Fraud Division, Wilson made $354,000 in the scam. Derzaph stated that Wilson pleaded guilty to one count of identity theft, insurance fraud, grand theft and two counts of failure to file income tax returns for the years 2005 and 2007. By the way if you require a good Los Angeles criminal defense attorney then may I suggest Mr. Ramiro Luis. he is one of the better criminal defense attorney you will find in L.A.
Superior Court Judge Samuel Mayerson who presided over the case and sentenced Wilson to four years and eight months, also ordered that he pay $345,000 in restitution to the Los Angeles school district that paid for treatment not provided for employees.

What is an immune system?

Filed under: Uncategorized — biopathics @ 7:15 pm

An immune system protects an organism against disease involving biological processes. It identifies and kills tumor cells and pathogens. It detects viruses and other agents. The immune system distinguishes the organism’s healthier tissues and cells in order for it to function properly.

The immune system protects the organisms from infections with layered defenses. The immune system has two types of defense mechanisms; innate immune system and an adaptive immune system. Pathogens (bacteria and viruses), physical barriers prevent them from entering the organism. If a pathogen makes its way through the physical barriers, the innate immune system provides a non-specific response immediately.

All plants and animals have innate immune systems. If the pathogens evade the innate response successfully, a third layer of protection (which vertebrates possess), the adaptive immune system is activated. The immune system adapts when it recognizes an infection from the pathogen. The adaptive immune system adapted its response. The response is improved and retained in the form of an immunological memory. The pathogen has been eliminated and it allows the adaptive immune system to response faster and have stronger attack each time this specific pathogen is encountered.

If the immune system has disorders, it can lead to disease. Immunodeficiency diseases and disorders occur when the immune system is less active and responsive than normal. The results could be life threatening with recurring life threatening infections.
There are ways to boost an overactive or hyperactive immune system. Also ways to help your immunity:

1. Transfer factor is the theory that immunity information in the human body can be transferred from cell to cell.

A cell has the uncanny ability to teach the immune system to recognize viruses and bacteria that cause harm to the human body. The immune system’s primary job is to fight off the harmful bacteria and viruses. The molecules from the transfer factor create a memory of the past pathogens that were in the body. It maintains the effectiveness of the immune system.

2. “A mother passes on vital immune know-how (gathered from her own experiences) in the first critical days of life. Mammals pass on this information through the mother’s first milk, or colostrums, while other animals pass it through the egg. Transfer factors and nanofraction molecules are important components of this education acting as nature’s first supplements.”

3. Getting plenty of sleep can help your immune system. Your body needs to restore and replenish itself. Getting plenty hours of sleep will make you healthier and build your immune system stronger at the same time.

NO Connection Found Between Salt and Asthma

Filed under: Uncategorized — biopathics @ 10:59 pm

A new study just completed has found that the low sodium diet has no therapeutic affect on Asthma sufferers. The study involved a group of 200 subjects. They were divided into 2 groups. Each was given either the normal sodium intake per day for 6 weeks or a placebo for 6 weeks. There are 5.2 million people in the UK and 50 percent of them suffer from Asthma. Dr Zara Pogson, a clinical research fellow at The University of Nottingham, conducted this study.

The researches anticipated a decrease in asthma symptoms with the low sodium group and an increase of symptoms with the other group. However at the end of the study they could not find any difference in both groups. Researchers therefore cannot advise people to cut their sodium intake to help asthma symptoms. They were disappointed that they could not find a connection between salt intake and asthma attacks

Past studies have shown that there is a correlation between sodium intake and asthma. The studies however, were not as large or as controlled as this one and the results may have been from a flaw in the study design. This new double-blind study made use of random placebo assignment. The American Thoracic Society has already published the trial use of placebos and sodium and their results in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. The research now suggests they look for other factors of the dietary nature and asthma connection.
